What has helped you to thrive?

The things that have helped me through the most have been seeing a therapist to help my mental health & to work on how this journey has made me as a person. I set myself goals each week so I’m making the most of every day and using my time wisely. Also, through reaching out and Finding support & meeting others who are in the same boat. It made me feel less alone!  Most importantly my family & team who are just incredible & listened when I needed that time to vent, cry & smile.

Megan's Story

Having previously had an ultrasound scan in 2017, I was told my first lump was benign. At the beginning of 2019, I had five more lumps in my neck & constant itchy skin, so I was referred to have a biopsy which showed I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

I underwent a procedure to insert a PICC line which saves you from having certain side effects. It was the best thing I had along the way! I then had ABVD chemotherapy for 6 months which was hard, but doable. I was admitted with neutropenic sepsis but the hospital team made sure this was dealt with ASAP!

My team were so supportive in Bud Flanagan outpatients at the Royal Marsden, Surrey. I was so lucky to have that support from them and my family. I braved the shave after cycle 1 due to my hair falling out, where I raised over £2,000 for Cancer Research. I want to continue to help others going through the same ordeal in future.

I am now in remission and appreciate every single day and I want to continue to help others who are facing their cancer journeys.
