During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have been working hard to make sure we can continue our vital work by connecting our network of young adults living with and beyond cancer with others who get it, at a time when they need it most. Although we are no longer able to hold any in-person events at present, we have quickly adapted and are moving all our support offerings onto digital platforms, to find new ways to unite our community online.

  • Our private online support community of young adults is still available 24/7 – a secure space for seeking advice, or sharing concerns with others who get it.

  • As always, our YouTube channel is packed with fantastic online resources: online exercise sessions, a seven day yoga series, and our Trekstock Talks on topics such as anxiety, food, parenting, and more.

  • We are still sending out support packs to all new members of our community, but these are now being sent out digitally so we can provide services as quickly as possible. New members receive an email containing instructions for joining our online community, downloadable copies of both our support pack and our nutrition resource: “Food and Cancer: What’s the Deal?”, and a year’s free subscription to the Headspace meditation app.

  • Our regional social meet ups are being moved online, with our fantastic team of Regional Champions ready to host regular virtual hangouts to connect young adults living with and beyond cancer in their local area.

  • Our RENEW exercise programme of small group classes is moving onto Zoom, with the same group of incredible Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation Instructors leading weekly classes to help get young adults living with and beyond cancer moving safely.

  • Our Lifting the Lid series of panel discussions at Samsung in London, has evolved into a series of Zoom webinars where experts and young adults will provide advice, share experiences, and answer questions on the topics that matter most to our community. We are still planning to hold the in-person events later in the year.

  • We are currently planning how to best deliver our Meet & Move health and wellbeing days to you digitally... We know how valuable these are to the young adults we support, keep your eye on our website for more details.

  • We are also delighted to be supporting AfterThoughts, a new podcast of stories from young adults about life after a cancer diagnosis from Beyond Arts. Hosted by our Young Adult Ambassador Toby Peach and friend of Trekstock Alice-May Purkiss, the first series has seven episodes which will be released every fortnight. You can listen to the first three episodes now.

  • As always, our website contains no-nonsense evidence-based advice from experts around topics such as nutrition, exercise, anxiety, work, parenting and more, plus signposting to other charities and services. We are continually working to improve and add to these, and this is a priority of course in this moment.

These are undeniably difficult times for all small charities, and Trekstock is no exception. At a time when demand for our services is ever increasing, we have had to postpone three of our major fundraising events before our year end in May. As a charity that receives no government funding, this will represent a significant drop in our income and have an immediate knock on effect on the charity’s future.

We have always been lucky enough to be supported by an incredible network of individuals who recognise the vital importance of the work we do. At this challenging moment, you can support Trekstock with a one-off donation, or a regular gift. We also have some other great ideas of how you can support us from home. If you are able to help in any way, however small, we would be so very grateful.
